‘The Beagle 6’ is a vatted malt that evolved from eight Tasmanian malt-whisky casks, and just like the five prior Beagle releases, the Beagle 6 comes from 4 different cask types, but this time including Sherry, Tokay, Muscat and Port casks. The whisky ranges from 5 to 14 years old and word in whisky circles is this is one belter of a whisky with real Heartwood DNA.
The Beagle range of Heartwood whiskies pay homage to Charles Darwin’s ship that was called ‘HMS Beagle’ and his voyage of discovery and the evolution of whisky. The Voyage of the Beagle is the title most commonly given to the book he wrote and published in 1839 bringing him considerable fame and respect.
Heartwood releases rarely make it to physical or virtual liquor-shop shelves before they sell out as they’ve become highly collectable by a cult following of enthusiasts who appreciate the whisky magic made by the brand.
