The Beagle 8 is constructed from 6 epochs (6 varying age statement whiskies), 20 different strata (casks), evolved from 5 Tasmanian distilleries. The whisky is dedicated to all Victorians with the front label facetiously illustrating human evolution to the second last step of social distancing, and the final step of lock-down.
Heartwood owner and independent bottler Tim Duckett comments;
“The Beagle 8 label has been designed and completed. The Beagle 8 label is dedicated to all Victorians. 168 bottles, 20 different casks. Ages vary from the bulk being 7 and 9 years of age but also contains small quantities of 2, 3, 4 and 5 years of age. The smaller quantities are used to enhance the flavour profile and the peat influence”.
The Beagle range of Heartwood whiskies pay homage to Charles Darwin’s ship that was called ‘HMS Beagle’ and his voyage of discovery and the evolution of whisky. The Voyage of the Beagle is the title most commonly given to the book he wrote and published in 1839 bringing him considerable fame and respect.
